Affiliate Program Terms

How commission is tracked, who owes it, and what we do and don't guarantee.

Last updated: August 9, 2026

The short version

  • App owners pay affiliates directly. We never hold, transfer, or take a cut of anyone's money.
  • We keep the records. Clicks, conversions and the commission each one earned — calculated when it happens and frozen, so changing a rate later never rewrites what's already owed.
  • We are not a party to the commission agreement. That's between the app owner and the affiliate. We can suspend a programme that doesn't pay, but we cannot pay on its behalf.
  • Attribution has real limits and section 5 states them plainly rather than burying them.
  • Free to use today. If that ever changes we'll tell you before it applies to you.

These Affiliate Program Terms (the “Affiliate Terms”) govern participation in BestAppify's affiliate programme, whether as an app owner running a programme or as an affiliate promoting apps. They add to our Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy; where they conflict on an affiliate matter, these Affiliate Terms apply. The Service is operated by Koorosh Seyedzadeh (operating as BestAppify), a sole proprietorship registered in British Columbia, Canada (“we”, “us”, “BestAppify”).

By opening an affiliate programme, or by requesting to join one, you agree to these Affiliate Terms.

1. The two roles

An app owner runs a programme for an app they control, setting what it pays and who may join. An affiliate promotes apps in exchange for commission. An app owner cannot join their own programme.

You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract. Affiliates act as independent parties: nothing here creates an employment, agency, partnership or joint-venture relationship with BestAppify or with any app owner.

2. What BestAppify does — and does not — do

This section is the most important one in the document.

We provide records and tooling. We track referral links and clicks, record conversions reported to us, calculate commission from the programme's own terms, and show both sides the same figures.

We do not hold, receive, transfer or disburse funds. Commission is paid by the app owner directly to the affiliate, by whatever method they arrange between themselves. We are not a payment processor, escrow agent, money transmitter, or party to that payment.

We are not a party to the commission agreement. The obligation to pay commission is owed by the app owner to the affiliate. We do not guarantee that any app owner will pay, and we cannot pay on their behalf. Recording a payout in the dashboard is a record of what the parties have told us, not confirmation by us that money moved.

We do not vet app owners or affiliates, beyond the checks described in section 8. A “verified” badge means only that the owner connected a Shopify Partner account showing the app is theirs. It is not an endorsement of them, their app, or their willingness to pay.

3. Programme terms are set by the app owner

Each programme carries its own terms, written by the app owner: commission rate, cost per install, attribution window, and any rules about how the app may be promoted. Those terms sit alongside these ones and govern the specific commercial relationship.

When an affiliate joins a programme, we save a copy of the owner's terms exactly as they read at that moment, and record the date. If the owner later edits their terms, the saved copy is what that affiliate agreed to — an owner cannot change the terms of an agreement already made. New terms apply to affiliates who join afterwards.

An app owner must not set terms that conflict with these Affiliate Terms, mislead about what will be paid, or make commission conditional on something the affiliate cannot verify.

4. Rules for affiliates

You must not:

  • Refer yourself. You may not earn commission on an app installed by you, by a business you own or work for, or by an account you control. This is enforced automatically where we can detect it and is grounds for removal where we cannot.
  • Generate clicks or installs artificially — bots, scripts, click farms, incentivised installs, or anything designed to inflate tracked activity.
  • Misrepresent the app, its pricing, its features, or your relationship to it. Do not imply you are the app's developer, or that BestAppify endorses it.
  • Send unsolicited bulk email or messages, or promote through spam, malware, adware, cookie-stuffing, or forced clicks.
  • Bid on the app owner's brand or trademarks in paid search, unless that owner's programme terms explicitly allow it.
  • Use another person's referral code, or attempt to redirect referrals away from the affiliate who earned them.

You are responsible for complying with advertising law in your jurisdiction, including disclosing that your links are affiliate links where required.

5. How attribution works, and where it stops

We would rather state these limits here than have you discover them in a dispute.

Clicks. A visit to a referral link is recorded with a timestamp, the referring website's domain, and a coarse browser family. Repeat clicks from the same visitor are limited, and traffic identified as automated is excluded from all figures.

Conversions reach us in one of two ways: the app owner's own software reports them to our API, or the owner records them by hand. Both depend on the app owner. We have no independent way to observe an installation or a payment inside someone else's app, and we do not receive this information from Shopify.

Shopify does not pass referral information to apps. A referral code on an App Store listing link does not reach the app when a merchant installs. For commission to be tracked automatically, the app owner must capture the code themselves — by pointing referral links at a page they control, or by asking the merchant for it. An owner who does neither must record conversions manually, and unrecorded conversions earn nothing.

Attribution window. Each programme sets how long a click counts before a conversion. Where an affiliate sent several clicks, the most recent one before the conversion is credited. We cannot determine whether two different affiliates both reached the same merchant, because we do not track visitors across affiliates — the code reported by the app owner determines who is credited.

Our records govern. Absent manifest error, the figures in your BestAppify dashboard are the agreed record of clicks, conversions and commission between the parties.

6. Commission, reversals and payouts

Calculation. When a conversion is recorded, commission is calculated from the programme's terms at that moment and fixed to that conversion. Later changes to a programme's rate apply only to conversions recorded afterwards, and never alter commission already earned.

Reversals. An app owner may reverse a conversion within 90 days of the date it occurred — for a refund, a cancelled subscription, a chargeback, or a recording error. After 90 days a conversion is final and cannot be reversed. Affiliates are notified of every reversal.

If commission has already been paid when a conversion is reversed, the affiliate does not owe it back. The amount is deducted from their future earnings in that programme, and their balance may show as negative until it is absorbed.

Payouts. Once an affiliate's confirmed commission in a programme reaches that programme's minimum, they may request a payout. The app owner may approve it, or reject it with a stated reason. The owner pays the affiliate directly and records the payment; the affiliate then confirms receipt, or reports that it did not arrive. We record each step and nothing more.

Payout method. Affiliates provide a payment handle (for example a PayPal or Wise address). We deliberately do not collect or store bank account numbers. Anything further is exchanged directly between the parties, at their own risk.

7. If an app owner does not pay

Unpaid commission is a matter between the app owner and the affiliate, and we are not liable for it. We will, on request, provide both parties with our records of the clicks, conversions and commission in question.

Where we believe an app owner is not paying confirmed commission, we may pause or remove their programme, stop listing their app in the affiliate marketplace, and decline to host future programmes for them. We may do this at our discretion; we are not obliged to, and doing so does not make us responsible for the debt.

8. Fraud, flags and withholding

We automatically refuse conversions that appear to be self-referrals, and we flag patterns that merit a human look — for example the same merchant credited to two affiliates. Flags are surfaced to the app owner, who decides. These checks catch the obvious; they are not a guarantee that all fraud is detected.

We may suspend an account, withhold or void commission, and remove an affiliate or a programme where we reasonably believe these Affiliate Terms have been breached. Where practical we will say why.

9. Fees

Participation is currently free: we take no percentage of commission and charge nothing for running or joining a programme. We reserve the right to introduce a fee in future. If we do, we will give notice before it applies to you, and it will not apply retroactively to commission already earned.

10. Tax

Affiliates are independent and responsible for their own taxes, registrations and filings on commission they earn. App owners are responsible for any reporting obligations arising from payments they make. BestAppify does not withhold tax, does not issue tax documents for commission, and is not the payer of record for any commission payment.

11. Data and privacy

Click records contain a timestamp, the referring domain, a coarse browser family, and a one-way fingerprint used only to limit repeat clicks. We do not store visitors' IP addresses, and that fingerprint changes daily and cannot be linked across different affiliates' links.

App owners can see the email address of affiliates in their own programme, and the payment handle of affiliates they owe money to — both are necessary to run a programme and pay people. Affiliates can see the app owner's programme and app details.

The public affiliate leaderboard is opt-in. Nobody appears on it unless they ask to, using a display name they choose, and earnings are shown only if they separately opt in. Leaving removes the listing immediately. See our Privacy Policy for everything else.

12. Ending participation

An affiliate may leave a programme at any time. An app owner may remove an affiliate, or pause or close their programme, at any time. In every case, commission already earned remains owed and stays on the affiliate's balance for payout.

Referral links stop crediting new conversions once a membership ends or a programme closes. We may suspend either party's participation for breach of these Affiliate Terms. If BestAppify discontinues the affiliate programme, we will give reasonable notice and make each party's records available so outstanding commission can be settled between them.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Affiliate Terms. For material changes we will give notice before they take effect. Changes do not alter commission already earned, or the programme terms an affiliate has already accepted. Continuing to use the affiliate programme after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.

14. Disclaimers and liability

The affiliate programme is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that tracking will capture every click or conversion, that any affiliate will earn anything, or that any app owner will pay. Nothing here is a guarantee of income.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, BestAppify is not liable for unpaid commission, for conversions that were never reported to us, for losses arising from an app owner's or affiliate's conduct, or for indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability relating to the affiliate programme is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us for the affiliate programme in the preceding twelve months (currently nil) or USD 100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, in which case they apply only to the extent permitted.

15. Governing law

These Affiliate Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes between an app owner and an affiliate are between them; we are not obliged to participate, though we will supply our records on request.

Draft pending legal review

This document accurately describes how the affiliate programme behaves today, but it has not been reviewed by a solicitor. Before relying on it, the following need professional attention: the contracting entity and its jurisdiction; whether the direct-payment model keeps BestAppify outside money-transmission rules in the places it operates; the liability cap in section 14; and consumer-protection or affiliate-disclosure requirements in the territories where affiliates are based.
