Why the merchants keep answering

They are paid for their time — $100 for a research call, $150 for a sales call — and they are told which kind they are accepting before they accept it. That is why a sales call costs you more, and it is the one rule we will not bend: what you cannot buy here is a merchant who was told it was research.

It is also why the answers are worth something. A merchant who is paid whatever they say has no reason to be polite about your app, and the call where somebody tells you it solves a problem they do not have is the one that saved you a quarter.

If a merchant does not turn up, that call does not count against what you bought. We recruit a replacement.
