Agent Skills

Teach your agent to run the App Store

The MCP server gives an agent 60 tools, 15 of which act rather than only report. These skills give it the method: which tool to reach for, in what order, and — the part that matters — what this data cannot tell you.

A week of ASO, end to end

shopify-aso-week

Works out what moved and why, decides what is worth changing, then changes it — listing copy, screenshots, and the keywords under watch. The only one of these that ends with the listing different rather than a report written.

What you ask for

  • How did my app do this week?
  • Why did I drop for my main keyword?
  • Rewrite my tagline for the terms I can actually win

Watching the apps you are losing to

shopify-competitor-watch

Finds who is really competing with you, reads what they changed — price, copy, screenshots, position, reviews — and says which of it deserves a response this week. Works on apps you do not own.

What you ask for

  • What did my competitors change?
  • Did anyone move their pricing?
  • What are their reviewers complaining about?

Sizing a niche without guessing

shopify-market-research

How crowded a category is, what its apps charge, how good the incumbents actually are, and where the gap sits. Every number observed from the public App Store, none modelled.

What you ask for

  • Is this niche worth entering?
  • What do apps in this category charge?
  • Who leads here, and are they any good?

Using them

  1. 1Connect the MCP server first — the skills call its tools and do nothing without it. One-click install, free plan included.
  2. 2Download the skills and drop a folder into wherever your agent loads skills from. For Claude Code that is .claude/skills/.
  3. 3Then ask in your own words. The skill decides which tools to call.

If your client supports MCP prompts, the server also advertises 6 ready-made routines with no install at all — they appear as slash commands or suggested actions depending on the client.

What these carry that a tool list cannot

Every skill ends with the same section: the things about this data that will otherwise make an agent confidently wrong. Four of them, in every file.

  • A null rank is missing data

It means we did not capture that day — never that the app was unranked. An agent that reads the gap as a fall will invent a crisis.

  • “Category rank” means two things

One orders the apps we hold by review count and jumps when reviews land. The other is Shopify's own page order. Only the second is where a merchant sees you.

  • Keyword positions stopped on 6 September 2026

Shopify disallowed crawling its search page. Stored positions end there; current ones come from on-demand checks or the customer's own Google Analytics.

  • Review counts move at our crawl's pace

A flat week can mean a flat week or an unvisited app. Compare over weeks, and say the window.
